Preparation:
Our pierogi are pre-boiled and ready to eat! All you have to do is heat them up. Use any one of the following techniques:

  • Boil: Pierogi can be boiled fresh or frozen. Bring a deep pot of salted water to a hard boil. Gently place pierogi one by one into water and cook for 3-5 minutes or until they start floating to the surface. Carefully monitor the pierogi (especially fruit pierogi) so that they do not overcook and burst! Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a dish towel to blot and remove excess water to prevent sticking. Pierogi may be eaten as-is or further sautéed (see below).
  • Sautée: heat butter and diced onions in frying pan. Cook over a low heat until onions are caramelized. Place thawe (not frozen) pierogi into pan, flipping often until light golden brown on the outside.
  • Microware: place thawed (no frozen) pierogi on plate and place a pat of butter on each. Cover plate with plastic wrap. Cooking 6 pierogi take approxximately 3 minutes in a 750 watt microwave. Adjust time for your microwave.

What should I serve them with?

Traditional savory pierogi are best served with melted butter, finely chopped caramelized onions, fried bacon pieces, or sour cream. Sweet pierogi (with sweet cheese or fruit) are best served with butter, sour cream, whipped cream, white sugar, brown sugar, or fresh fruits.
